Smiley Middle School today announced that it will become a fully accredited International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP). Local dignitaries, including Michael Hancock, City Council President and Kevin Patterson, Board of Education, Denver Public Schools, attended the media event held at the Smiley Middle School Library early this afternoon.

West High School, a Denver Public Schools (DPS) high school, recently received a $77,000 School Innovation Grant. West High School plans to use the money, in collaboration with Emily Griffith Opportunity School, to develop a comprehensive three-year plan to become a magnet high school with a focus on Math, Engineering, Technology, Arts, and Science (METAS).

Denver Public Schools (DPS) today announced that Janus Capital Group is making a three-year, $3 million commitment to create a program to improve teacher recruitment, development and retention. Called the Janus Education Alliance, the program will be funded by the largest corporate gift DPS has ever received.
