It encourages students to ask "what-if" questions, and provokes group discussion and cooperation.

The program utilizes inquiry-based approaches, generates student curiosity and ownership, and provides teachers with the tools necessary to help students understand science, discovery, and exploration.

These range from classes offered at the University of Wisconsin, to workshops for high-school students and teachers, as well as a scholarship for qualified first-year freshmen at UW System schools.
